Move the shrimps correctly

Especially if you buy new animals and you have to convert them in the ready aquarium often big mistakes lead to great losses. Shrimps react to changes of the water quality very sensitively. Often a too fast movement to the new basin is the cause for the death of the shrimps.

As soon as the animals have reached their destination please accustom the animals onto you aquarium water as follows:

The following possibilities are good in order to train the shrimps:

Lay down the bag in a shut state onto the water surface for approx. 30 - 60 min. before you open it. Inside the bag there is still sufficient oxygen that the animals are able to survive this procedure without problems. In order to adapt the remaining water parameters (pH, GH, KH) slowly it is recommended to put the aquarium water over a period of one hour sip-wisely into the opened bag.

Open the bag and fill the content into a bucket. First let the bucket stand covered for approx. 30 min at room temperature. After that you fill aquarium water into the bucket all minute until the bucket is full. After about further 30-60 minutes you can fill the animals along with the water into the basin. Caution! Shrimps stick with pleasure in the bucket or the transportation bag! Please control if this is the case!

After opening the bag, fill it into an empty bucket. Over approx. one hour let the ready aquarium water drop wise into the bucket. After approx. one hour the shrimps have become accustomed to the new water values. Now you can put them along with the water or cautiously with a net into the new basin.

Some types of shrimps show, caused by the stress through transportation and conversion, a temporary colour loss. This can work even so far that the animals decolour themselves completely. But don't be worry, the colour should return in the course of the day and should correspond to the normal state again after about 2 days.

In order to avoid losses during the conversion of new animals it is much important that the temperature and the other water values are not adapted too quickly.
