Additional shrimp purchase
Some shrimp holders reported already that after acquiring new shrimps suddenly the old or the new ones died although no changes were made in or at the aquarium.
Reports by some holders like ...
Quotation 1: Yesterday I planted 20 new bee shrimps into my aquarium where already Red Cherry and Macro brachium mirabile were. Now my old shrimps die suddenly (in the meantime 5 Red Cherry and 3 Macro brachium mirabile) while none of the new shrimps is dying.
Quotation 2: Recently I had the same problem. I had each 10 Red Fire and Bee shrimps. Little by little all bees except one died. Unfortunately I do not know why, the Red Fire were okay and all of them survived.
... occur increasingly in the meantime.
After acquiring new shrimps into an already available involved tribe, considerable problems can arise if these already show infectious diseases or parasites which were strange to the already available tribe or to the new shrimps.
If the new shrimps come into a water with a high germ number or if the already available shrimps hit a pathogenic agent to whom their own defence is not prepared yet, the problems can start only after some days.
This can mean that either the new shrimps or the already available animals die. If you give up the new shrimps you have to avoid to spill the transportation water into the aquarium because in some small basins a sudden overloading with for example alga remedies can occur and the shrimps aren't prepared for that. You can find an instruction for the conversion of shrimps here. |
